ABOUT SMU MSA

SMU MSA 30th Anniversary

Alhamdulillah, this year marks SMU Muslim Student Association’s 30th anniversary. Our orgnization have been serving students since 1985. Our organization unites the Muslims at SMU as they come together and celebrate the tenets of our religion. Simultaneously, we continue our community service and remain an important part of the Dallas community as well, serving as a resource for people of different faiths to learn about Islam and its presence at SMU.

"Come forward as servants of Islam, organise the people economically, socially, educationally and politically and I am sure that you will be a power that will be accepted by everybody."

-Muhammad Ali Jinnah

OUR MISSION

The Muslim Student Association at Southern Methodist University strives to branch out to all Muslims and Non-Muslims by unfolding the values of unity and knowledge in efforts to increase awareness of Islam.

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black any superiority over white – except by piety and good action."--[ From the Prophet's (PBUH) last sermon]

Where to Pray on Campus:

There is a designated wudu room as well as prayer room on campus where you can pray any time of the day. It is called the 'quiet room" and is located on the third floor of the Hughes Trigg Student Center just around the corner from the chaplain's office.

SERVICES & EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Just a few of the services MSA provides to Muslims at both SMU and the surrounding community are weekly Jummah prayers, a wudu room, and a prayer room to offer prayers, as well as weekly meetings following Jummah on Fridays and Iftars during Ramadan. Our organization spearheads three large-scale annual events, the Fast-A-Thon in the fall and Islam Awareness Week in the spring, MSA Showdown, among other lectures,  and social events throughout the year.

We hope that you will become an integral part of MSA by supporting our organization through your active membership and spreading the name of Islam through the greater SMU community!
